Hi friends, I am sharing here how to fix your flickering MacBook screen.
As you all know that Apple’s latest MacBook Pro models have a serious design flaw. The display backlighting of these laptops is not properly attached to the rest of the chassis, leading to excessive flexing when opening or closing the lid or adjusting the screen’s angle.
The laptop’s hinges are so loose they let you move them with just two fingers, while my old MacBook Pro with an optical drive could be moved by just shaking it a little bit.
The problem is very serious, but there’s a quick fix that you can use to make your laptop more rigid and sturdy without having to visit the Genius Bar.
In this article, I’ll show you how to tighten your MacBook Pro hinges in less than 5 minutes.
Fix The Flickering Screen Problem:
This flickering problem occurs due to the loose hinges and we can easily fix this issue using super glue (any superglue). Generally, Super Glue is used for gluing our fingers together but here we are going to use it for fixing our screen. So no need to buy any expensive equipment or tools.
We just need super glue and very little amount of water. We can use this super glue in two ways i.e. ‘the dry method’ or the ‘wet method’.
The dry method is to apply super glue on both edges which are loose, press it till it gets dried then tighten screws accordingly at that place. Make sure you use a little amount of super glue. It is better to use the dry method than the wet one as you can’t remove this type of super glue easily.
For more durability, apply some extra layers of super glue on both edges which are loose. Make sure you let each layer dry before applying the next one or it will be messy and cause unexpected problems.
Superglue dries within 24 hours. So, the best thing to do is to leave it overnight.
The wet method is to s soggy the low edges where the screws are with a drop of water then apply super glue on that moistened edge and tighten your screws accordingly.
It will be better if you use both methods together for better results.
Fixing MacBook Screen Flickering With The Wet Method:
It is easier to use the wet method because you can easily apply and spread superglue on edges that are loose with a toothpick or an earbud. After applying super glue let it dry for 10-15 minutes then tighten your screws accordingly. If any excess amount of glue is left then wipe it with a cotton bud.
Fixing MacBook Screen Flickering With The Dry Method:
Take two pieces of similar tissue paper and moisten them with little water. Put one moistened paper on either edge where the screws are present. Let it dry for 10-15 minutes, make sure it’s dry before applying super glue on that moistened edge and tighten your corresponding screws. You can also use a hairdryer for speeding up the process and make sure you turn it off before putting super glue on edges that are loose.
After applying super glue let it dry for 12-24 hours then tighten your screws accordingly, if any excess amount of glue is left then wipe it with a cotton bud or soft cloth.
How To Prevent MacBook Screen Flickering In Future:
Apart from tightening your hinges, it’s also necessary to apply some kind of oil on screws and hinge points for easy opening and closing of the screen. This will prevent them from loosening and you’ll be able to open your screen without any kind of hassle.
If you want to prevent your MacBook Pro Screen from Flickering in the future then apply some kind of grease on the screws and tighten it properly, this will make sure the screen doesn’t get loose and flicker in the future.
Fixing MacBook Pro Screen Flickering:
You can tighten your hinges easily by yourself. If you’re good with your hands then it’s better to fix the flickering screen problem by yourself, if not then visit an Apple service center or any other reputed place.

Macbook Screen Flickering: What Can I Do To Prevent It?
I was browsing the internet and watching a movie on my 2011 MacBook Pro. Then I went to go play some games on it, and after turning it back on, LCD was flickering like crazy!!
After doing some research I figured out several things which you can do to prevent your screen from flickering:
1. First thing that I did is clean out the dust from underneath my MacBook Pro. There was a lot of dust and I didn’t realize it had gotten that bad.
2. The next thing is to make sure you tighten all your screws properly, especially on the hinge piece. This will prevent your screws from loosening up and potentially ruining your LCD screen or display cable (which is what happened to me).
3. To tighten your screws, take a mini flat head screwdriver and slowly move it around all your hinge pieces until you feel the hinges become tighter. If there is still dust underneath, then take air compressed (at least 60 psi) and put it in between the two hinges to blow out whatever dirt may be in there.
4. The next thing I did is remove the LCD screen controller board because I figured it might be loose or bent, which was exactly what was wrong with my problem. If you need to do this make sure you are very gentle and don’t apply any pressure if you can avoid it. DO NOT USE A CHEAP PLASTIC TOOL, but rather a sturdy metal one.
5. As for the screen itself, I figured it might be loose because of not being tightened enough on the hinges, and while looking down at it from between my two screens I could see that both sides were bent inwards slightly due to not having enough pressure on the hinges and thus causing the screen to be lopsided. I simply loosened the hinges (without removing them) and got another long screwdriver (this time not as thick) and pushed down with it for about 20 minutes on top of the LCD screen itself, which caused it to align properly again.
The next thing that you can do is apply some kind of grease on the hinges, this will make sure your screen doesn’t get loose and flicker in the future.
So, just follow these simple steps and enjoy your new working MacBook Pro screen without any kind of glitches.
